The Collected Works of Harriet Beecher Stowe<\/em> (CWHBS<\/em>) has commissioned Zachary Hutchins, Christopher N. Phillips, and Edward Whitley to edit the Key to Uncle Tom’s Cabin<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zachary Hutchins<\/a> is an Associate Professor of English at Colorado State University where he teaches courses in early American literature and culture on a wide range of writers and topics.  The author of numerous articles and reviews, he is the author of Inventing Eden: Primitivism, Millennialism, and the Making of New England<\/em> (Oxford University Press, 2014) and the editor of a collection of essays, Community without Consent: New Perspectives on the Stamp Act<\/em>. (Dartmouth College Press, 2016).  He is also the co-editor of The Earliest African American Literatures: A Critical Reader<\/em> (Forthcoming from the University of North Carolina Press, 2021) and The Writings of Elizabeth Webb: A Quaker Missionary in America<\/em>, 1697-1726. (The Pennsylvania State University Press, 2019).  He is also involved in digital projects and serves as the Editor-in-chief of Transcribing Early American Manuscript Sermons<\/em> (http:\/\/earlyamericansermons.org<\/a>) and is a consulting editor for North American Slave Narratives<\/em>, The Center for Documenting the American South at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (http:\/\/docsouth.unc.edu\/neh<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christopher N. Phillips<\/a> is Professor of English at Lafayette College, where he teaches in early American literature, history of the book, environmental studies, and other areas. He is the author of a range of articles and book chapters in historical poetics, especially epic and hymnody, as well as the history of reading and various aspects of pedagogy. His books include Epic in American Culture, Settlement to Reconstruction<\/em> (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2012), The Hymnal: A Reading History<\/em> (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2018), and as editor, The Cambridge Companion to the Literature of the American Renaissance<\/em> (Cambridge University Press, 2018). He is currently at work on a project titled Hymnic Reading<\/em>, which engages the history of poetry through the intimate reader-text relationship and resulting textual fluidity endemic to the genre of the congregational hymn. He is also the primary investigator for the Easton Library Company Database Project (https:\/\/elc.lafayette.edu<\/a>), which is transcribing and interpreting the loan records from the Easton (Pa.) Library Company from its founding in 1811 to its merger with the Easton High School\u2019s library in 1862.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edward Whitley<\/a> is Professor of English at Lehigh University.\u00a0 He has published numerous articles and reviews in 19th<\/sup>\u00a0century American literature and culture and is the author of\u00a0American Bards: Walt Whitman and Other Unlikely Candidates for National Poet<\/em>\u00a0(University of North Carolina Press, 2010; paperback, 2014).\u00a0 He is the editor of a forthcoming edition of\u00a0Leaves of Grass<\/em>\u00a0(Norton) and the co-editor of\u00a0\u00a0two collections of essays:\u00a0\u00a0Walt Whitman in Context<\/em> (Cambridge University Press, 2018) and\u00a0Whitman among the Bohemians\u00a0<\/em>(University of Iowa Press, 2014).\u00a0 Also engaged in digital scholarship, he is a contributing editor to the\u00a0Walt Whitman Archive<\/em>\u00a0and the co-editor of\u00a0The Vault at Pfaff\u2019s: An Archive of Art and Literature by the Bohemians of Antebellum New York\u00a0<\/em>(https:\/\/lehigh.edu\/pfaffs<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
